Cupcakes

What's your favourite part of a cupcake? I have to confess mine is the delicious icing no matter what flavour. And yes I confess too that I am one of these people who eat that part first, with my finger. Disgusting I know but still divine.

Spring Clean

Well the clocks went forward last night

about time, I shout.

I love this time of the year, when everything is brighter,

the garden is coming alive.

So I decided today was a good day to do

a Spring Clean.

Eight hours later and I am complete

and satisfied and my house looks

and smells divine.

When do you do yours?

Maths

Aargh I hate maths homework, well actually it's my daughter's.
Luckily Jonathan is great at it
So I concentrate and literacy and he does the maths

Books

I'm currently reading a fantastic true book "Call the Midwife". It's part of a trilogy that was recently serialised for tv.

If you like Downton Abbey then check this out. I think it's better.

As for the book - its gripping. It's basically about the adventures of a midwife in east London during the 1950's. These midwives lived in a nunnery.

Check it out you won't be disappointed

What do you do for loved ones

Ive just rushed out of work at 5.30pm and travelled to the other side of Leicester to collect my daughter up from her dance lesson.

The joy and pride that I feel when I see her perform and see her happy face makes the commitment in waiting around for her to finish her lesson is so worth it.

I would do anything for her.

Come to think of it I'd do anything for family or friends.

I really don't have a lot to blog about at the moment.

Sunday we watched the first Grand Prix of the season

live from Melbourne, Australia.

Let's just say my predication for the season won.

Today I have been looking and thinking

about what to pack for my forthcoming holidays.

I never know what to take and always end up

bring more home that I haven't worn.

I'm still confused now even as I try to do a

list of what to wear on each day.

Who's of thought it would be so complicated?

Marriage

Yesterday we went to Jonathan's cousin's wedding

It was just perfect.

Nothing was over the top or pretentious

The whole meaning of the day for me 

was two people who were in love

and wanted to marry.

Isn't that the real meaning of marriage?

Sleep, or lack of it

My poor Jonathan. He can't sleep. He's having awful trouble getting to sleep and then staying asleep.

I've told him to visit the doctor, but like a lot of guys they don't think a visit to the GP is necessary.

So being the lovely person that I am I've gave up my side of the bed tonight and am in my daughter's bed as she is stopping at my parents tonight.

Oh I wish and hope he gets some good shut eye.

Any ideas out there would be greatly received.

Friday faves

Just a few of my favourite daily items that I can't live without.

GHD straighteners - not the best thing for your hair - probably but I only use the twice a week and they really do keep your hair straight and frizz free.

Avon hairspray. Fantastic smell and great hold. Plus it brushes out with no problem






This is my latest find. Avon vanilla body whip. It is fantastically light and smells yummy. Try it if you can.






And no Friday would be complete without my trusted Costa Coffee.

Oversleeping

Yes it happened this morning.

We all overslept, thank goodness something stirred me from my slumber. 

I have no idea how it happened I've two alarm clocks on the iPhone, 

a bedroom alarm clock and my daughter has two alarms

 but didn't feel it was time to get up because I hadn't been in to tell her!

Now it's just gone 8am and 

I feel as though today is going to be one of those days

 just because I overslept!

Porridge oats, a small pot of yogurt, handful of almonds chopped and two spoonfuls of dried fruits, delicious. Try it!

Struggling

I'm really struggling with work at the moment

I hear things where people are being unkind to one another

Its not helpful or productive
I must stay strong and if all else fails

Keep my office door shut, that way I don't hear the gossips
Come on people lets pull together!

What do you do to get you through a working day?

Normally I eat and drink healthily but today is one of those Monday slow days and I'm struggling.

Duquesa

Beautiful Spain is on its way.

Officially 14 days left at work.

This is one of my favourite places to visit and I've visited quite a few times.

I love the atmosphere, their friendliness and relaxed way of life.

No one rushes, things get done when they get done, no deadlines to meet.

This on top of delicious Spanish food.

True Friends

Oh how true

Today I met a very old schoolfriend for coffee and cake

We had lost touch for a number of years since leaving school.

Two years ago with the powers of Facebook we got back in contact.

Funny thing is it turns out we live in the same village.

Now every opportunity we get, we meet up and just talk, talk, talk.

Those lost years don't matter anymore as we have rekindled our friendship again.

Me

As the blog title says, a cup of tea can do wonders to my day.  Whether I have been run ragged at home, stressed about my daughter's homework or simply wondering where the time is going, once I have a lovely warm cup of tea I relax.  I've decided to start over with blogging and have left my old one behind.  This one I hope is going to be more positive and happy and then when  I read over I will smile to myself.

This year is a great year for my daughter.  She will be starting a new adventure, educationwise and off to a new school.  Thankfully she has got into the school of her and mine choice and we are all delighted.  Seeing the happiness on her face when she read the piece of paper I gave her after school confirming her place, was priceless.   For her it was a large concern and worry.

Me - well I hope it will be a much better year and the past two.  I think positive thinking is the way forward and not to look back with sadness.  I have a fantastic guy in my life and we are so very happy together.  Work could be better but at the same time I am grateful to be in employment.  Health could be a little better but I don't wish to blog about that.  We have three amazing holidays coming up and also a trip to Goodwood which I am stoked about plus we get to enjoy this all together.  Life at the moment apart from a couple of blips is fab.

And I have found my hobby in life - photography.  I will upload photos on here from time to time but you can always take a look at my website here www.clairebeswickphotography.co.uk
