Rain

I don't think it has stopped since the early hours of this morning.
The winds are high and strong and the rain is lashing down.
This will bring the floods so the trek to work in the morning will be
long and frustrating just to get out the village.

Don't get me wrong, we need the rain but please not on my weekend.

London 2012

Will you be watching? In just over 90 days time London 2012 arrives here.
I have to admit when it was first announced the Olympics would be held here I wasn't stoked.
In a time of recession for our country I thought the added expense wasn't going to be justified.
However last week they had a trial run in Loughborough for when the Olympic torch comes through in July.
It was quite exciting.

Loughborough is home to Team GB training camp although in the town it is very quiet concerning it.

So now I'm looking forward to the start of the games and watching the many different sports which will be on the tv non stop.

Baking

After a pretty rough week with illness I've had a lovely day with Natasha baking cakes.

We've chatted, laughed, sang and danced along the way and now the best part we get to eat them!

Malaga

Today we visited the beautiful city of Malaga. I love this place.
Every time you turn a street corner brings a new sound and vibrance.
People in small tapas bars chattering away.

Today was especially busy being a Saturday and also the middle of easter which they celebrate hard here.

People tend to pass over Malaga and only visit the airport but I have to say if you get the chance to visit then go.
You won't be disappointed

Day of rest

Today We decided to have a chill out day as the week had been action packed. However we did venture to the market at Sotogrande and had a coffee at the Royal Yacht Club. I purchased a lovely handbag too. Picture to follow.

In the evening we went to Marlows for dinner. The waitress there told us about a little town to visit so we are off there tomorrow.

Castellar de la Frontera

This is a village within a castle grounds and is well worth a visit. It's high up with eagles, buzzards and vultures circling nearby and a beautiful lake. The village is superb with whitewashed houses or casas so worth the drive up a very long and at times precarious road.

Tonight we ate at il capitano

Gibraltar

A little taste of England in the med. unfortunately the weather was not on our side and it rained but not for the whole of the time.

This time we drove over and it was so easy through border control. Unfortunately most of the shop were closed because of it being Good Friday but we had a nice time there showing Janice and Steve around and we saw some other parts because we had the car.

Ronda

Today we travelled high into the mountains to visit Ronda. A beautiful city perched high above a gorge. As it was Maundy Thursday the locals were out in their finest clothes everywhere looked spectacular.

The small city itself is beautiful steeped in history. The oldest bullring in Spain is in the heart of what is now known as the newest part of the city.

It takes some time to get up to Ronda along winding roads but it's well worth a visit

Sabinillas and Casares

The weather started fine but soon clouded over. We took a long stroll along the front to Sabinillas and stopped for a cup of coffee.

In the afternoon after we had decided it wasn't going to clear up we went up to the white washed village of Casares. On the way home we popped to Marlows for fish and chips

Sunday 1st April 2012

We visited beautiful Sotogrande. If you ever visit this part of Spain. Please take a look here. It is peaceful, and spectacularly set out not to mention rich.

Sunday is market day and the little stalls are set out around the winding waterways. They call it little Venice.

We ate lunch at an Italian and the food was excellent.

Monday 2nd April 2012

Puerto Banus

Home of the rich and famous. Well perhaps those that try and think they are!

It's a place to visit and then people watch. Full of designer shops with no window prices.

We had a cup of coffee and then came home. Through quite a large rain storm and it's been pretty much like that all afternoon. Bright sunshine followed by rain storms.

Later Jonno and I went for a walk and popped in to a beach bar just up from our apartment and we then continued to the port.

Tonight we've been to a lovely restaurant. Let's just say the meat fillets were huge

Mijas

Today we visited a wonderful hillside, whitewashed village high up overlooking the Costa del Sol.

Having never visited before I was intrigued to see what it was like and I wasn't disappointed.

Long winding streets full of character and vibrancy. Great shopping too.

We certainly all enjoyed it.

Saturday 31st March 2012

First things first and we go and buy some essentials from the supermarket across the road. Very handy location

Breakfast is eaten and then off the register and pay for car hire.

Main supermarket shopping done and lunch eaten.

Unfortunately it started to rain but did it let us stop us from having fun. No way and out we went for a walk round the port and village.

At night we decided to eaten at the best fish and chip shop in the whole of the costa del sol and we weren't disappointed.

My daughter felt a little rough in the night. I think it was a combination of over tiredness, excitement and being in a different country. After a good nights sleep she was much better.
